Awhile back, I read that salary correlates with height. I am 5'1" and that makes me sad. I have also heard that beauty (attractiveness / handsomeness / whatever you want to call it) also correalates with salary - among many things.
Now, I don't think I'm unattractive, but I know that there are ways you improve your attractiveness that can improve your "image" in the office.
An article from Working Girl blog titled "How To Be "Pretty' At Work" gives some more detail in regards to this trend and some simple tips to improve how you appear in the office.
"Dress well" is a big one. I highly suggest investing in a solid work wardrobe. Clothing that will always appear to be classic. Investing in an iron board and iron would also be highly suggested (or having a great dry-cleaner).
Remember: it's about quality, not quantity, so think twice when you're picking between buying 5 cheap sweaters versus one or two nice ones. The nice ones will last longer and look better in the long-run.
